The Invisible Jew paintings start with portraits of me, publicity shots taken to expand my role in the public sphere. I turn these photos into solvent transfers and then obscure the images in a method similar to erasure poetry through using tools to move and remove paint. With these paintings I am able to explore the sense of women’s role in Orthodoxy from my perspective as an Orthodox Jewish Feminist.
